the opportunity to work flexibly work with a cheerful 52 year old man who lives in his own home, has mild learning difficulties, cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegia ataxia and recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. he can suffer bouts of depression controlled mostly by medication.

he is very social, has a great sense of humour, and though he speaks indistinctly he can be understood with patience and practice.

we need someone who can follow routines but who is also able to think on their feet and adapt according to his needs at the time. tasks include:

personal care
cooking meals and including him in that process as much as possible
administering medication
shopping - on-line and in the shops
activities such as art and craft, daily exercises, gym, hydro and club sessions
getting out and about to his activities including driving him in his wav (wheelchair access vehicle). for that you do need to have a clean driving licence.

mix of 2:1 and 1:1 shifts.

handling his moods can be challenging at times but depression is not that frequent and most of the time he can be a lot of fun. you would be working as part of a dedicated professionally run team who together provide 24 hour care.

hours of work: 16 to 25 hours per week over 4 to 5 shifts

holiday and sickness cover of existing pas

rate of pay: £10 per hour rising to £11

£57.60 per night shift
