about the role:

at bidfood, we recognise that the quality of our transport teams is instrumental to our success. as transport team manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and compliance of the department whilst ensuring employees are motivated, working safely towards a common goal and maximising productivity.

duties:

reporting to the transport manager, your responsibilities will include:

managing the daily operation and performance of the transport department in order to provide the expected service to internal and external customers. in doing so, you’ll make sure that all goods are delivered to designated delivery points in the timescale required.
ensuring effective teamwork within the transport department and that all transport employees adhere to the required standards of performance.
ensuring standards of customer service exceed what is required by the company.
managing all resources including commercial vehicles, cages, pallets and sack barrows.
promoting and managing all qhse, fleet and sustainability standards, focussing on team safety and wellbeing.
ensuring customer stock is handled correctly to reduce damage and ensure cost and customer availability kpis are met.
ensuring all existing and new employees are trained to company standards with all relevant documents completed and submitted. you will set clear expectations including kpis, safety and team behaviours to all direct reports by setting annual objectives, and hold regular one-to-ones to review objectives, along with an end of year appraisal.
ensuring full compliance of the agency worker process, including recruitment, full training and completion of relevant agency documentation.

about you:

the ideal transport team manager will demonstrate:

good level of verbal and written english and numeracy skills.
proficiency in it and ability to use word, powerpoint, excel, outlook.
experience of a fast moving transport environment, preferably from a multi-drop, multi-temperature foodservice business.
full understanding of transport legislation.
evidence of effective management experience.
ability to manage conflicting deadlines and prioritise.
ability to plan workload for themselves and others effectively.
evidence of managing and driving change, in situations constantly requiring adaptation.
evidence of creative and innovative thinking and solid judgement.
