as a senior it support technician, you will be monitoring, maintaining and configuring the it systems and networks within multiple organisations in a technical support role.

about the role:

this is a varied role that requires a strong team player with a diverse range of it skills and disciplines.

a proactive, dynamic approach to it project delivery, cyber security and a strong desire for ongoing learning and self-improvement is essential. experience with supporting and delivering it solutions to educational establishments is a crucial part of the role.

the role is bromsgrove-based but travel will be required to locations including but not limited to worcester, droitwich, kidderminster, pershore, malvern, evesham, south birmingham and stratford-upon-avon. hybrid working is also available.

responsibilities

tasks can include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults and solving technical problems using sophisticated remote support software, while communicating with the customer over the phone, by email or via instant messaging.

you will provide scheduled and ad-hoc 3rd line diagnostic support to the it team leader, it systems engineer, it technicians and pre-sales support, most notably but not limited to the following areas:

wcc bems platform configuration, installation and maintenance including fault diagnosis and rectification of firewall and site ip vpn/broadband issues.
netbuilder ltd fibre leased line and broadband circuit installation, configuration, fault diagnosis and rectrification.
netbuilder ltd 3cx voip platform installation, configuration and fault diagnosis and rectification.
netbuilder ltd managed content filtering solution for worcestershire children first cisco umbrella and circle with disney platforms – installation, configuration and management.
ubiquiti unifi routine and diagnostic maintenance of all cloud managed sites.

training & development:

internal training is immediately provided to you and external certified training courses would be offered to you on various higher-level systems after probation.
specialist training can be offered to an individual that shows an aptitude in a specific area in it.
for personal progression, it certification exams can be funded if you provide suitable evidence that you can pass these exams and are happy to agree to the company’s terms and conditions.

qualifications and skills required:

a level or higher within a technical/it discipline.
ideally, a minimum of 5 year’s work experience in software and systems support.
ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
excellent ability to learn and articulate software-related and technical concepts.
excellent customer service skills.
excellent understanding of internet connectivity and broadband networking.
experience with microsoft word, excel and outlook.

the ability to build rapport and liaise with senior educational staff and governors is critical.

this role requires you to have enhanced dbs certification.
