*about this job:*

emea direct tax is responsible for managing and supporting tax matters across the emea region and working with ehq, api and emea affiliates. it provides strategic direction and advice to ehq, api corporate and other functional departments, focussing in particular on tax risk management, governance and tax practices. the services are provided either directly by the emea tax team or through management of and in conjunction with external advisers.

working as part of a highly experienced and collaborative team, this position is extremely varied and you will be empowered to operate relatively autonomously on one level whilst ensuring that the communication channels within and outside of the tax team remain strong and supportive.

this is predominantly an international tax role which will have responsibility for supporting transfer pricing matters including operational management, intercompany recharge processes (emea affiliates and ip holders) and analytics, monitoring permanent establishment and international tax risks, assessing cases for cross border working arrangements etc. the role will also be involved in domestic and international tax compliance, ad hoc advisory / cross border projects etc. as a core member of the emea tax team, this role will have a key point of linkage between the emea tax team, emea affiliates, and other global functions. they will develop credibility through challenge, influence and support to senior stakeholders, and supporting the group tax policies and strategies in addition to the strategic goals of the emea wide organisation.

*core duties:*

* support and drive the transfer pricing operational management and be the main point of contact for day-to-day activities.

* monitor tax risks to ensure compliance. initiate and implement internal tax controls where necessary.

* manage the intercompany recharge processes (emea affiliates and ip holders) and analytics. initiate and suggest practical implementation methods when new recharge models are rolled out and/or changes are made to existing models.

* manage the drafting of intercompany agreements for emea, liaison with regional tax teams, emea trading and indirect tax teams, affiliates and other stakeholders as necessary. arranging the agreements for signatures.

* advise on cross border working arrangements from a corporate tax perspective.

* support and advise affiliate finance leads on responding to tax authority enquiries which may include transfer pricing.

* proactively identify, manage and resolve tax issues relating to areas of responsibility.

* support and maintain emea tax policy and risk management framework.

* monitor risks and effectiveness of internal tax controls, in particular identify risks relating to complex tax matters including permanent establishments, beps.

* collate and consolidate emea wide tax positions across europe for inclusion in routine and non-routine reporting.

* support on domestic and international tax compliance, ad hoc advisory and cross border projects when required.

* ensure global tax site is kept up to date for signed intercompany agreements and compliance with related matters. support the po management and billing process.

* other such duties as may be reasonably required by the business.

*essential knowledge & experience:*

* tax/accounting experience (3+ years post qualification).

* excellent organizational skills

* exceptional analytical skills

* strong communicator must be a self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

* strong understanding of the beps action items and the impacts to multinationals

* business partnering and interpersonal skills- specifically the ability to effectively communicate

* collaboration skills, partnering with multiple stakeholders across the enterprise and external partners, including a network of tax advisors across the globe

* strong understanding of industry and regulatory requirements (codes, standards, regulatory and legal) for pharma sector preferred

* ambassador for change with proven track record leading major cultural and organisational change initiatives

* collaborative by nature and able to challenge respectfully and constructively

* ability to manage multiple projects and demands on time in a culturally diverse region

* flexibility to take on new work with changing business needs

*preferred knowledge and experience:*

* recognised accountancy qualification (equivalent to aca)

* experience in managing global finance operations is highly preferred

* exposure to sap erp, hfm accounting and finance system

* experience of working for a big 4 accountancy firm and/or multinational group

*educations/qualifications:*

* university degree

* fluency in english

* recognised tax qualification (equivalent to cta).
