we are recruiting a commis chef to work 9am-5pm, five days per week, (wednesday to sunday)!

conifox is a family-owned business situated on the outskirts of kirkliston. we operate a large outdoor adventure park and a newly completed indoor activity centre. our adventure park opened in 2015 and offers a great space for families to enjoy, with picnic benches, bbq and lots of fun activities to explore.

the activity centre boasts a large adventure play frame, a toddler play frame, a toddler role-play town, 3 party rooms, a 200-capacity function suite and a 400-seater café selling the best freshly prepared food. there are facilities for large-scale events, which can cater for up to 4000 visitors. complete with this £2million investment, conifox is set to become a destination venue for events and recreational activities both locally and across scotland.

following two years of closure due to covid, our onsite restaurant is undergoing a complete transformation and re-brand. as a commis chef, you will be a key member of our kitchen team, responsible for the daily operations of food preparation and service of food to customers within the restaurant, activity centre café and social/corporate events.

duties and responsibilities:

maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment whilst ensuring a product of high quality and presentation standards
ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage. have stock control procedures implemented and maintained.
prepare and ensures availability of mis en place as required.
to ensure that all deliveries are checked and put away promptly and correctly
be pro-active at all times and use initiative, diplomacy, and discretion to solve any problems that may arise.

skills & experience:

ability to comply with legislation and follow all rules and regulation laid down in the staff handbook and unit policy statements, with regard to uniform, personal hygiene, health and safety
possess great communication skills in order to be able to liaise with a wide range of team members and customers within your work environment
flexible can-do attitude with an approachable and enthusiastic manner
ability to remain calm in emergency situations and make balanced decisions
previous experience in kitchens would be preferable but not essential
ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude
