fruits in the city is an edinburgh based workplace fruit delivery company established in the heart of the city in 2010. we successfully supply health conscious workplaces across central scotland with fresh and appealing fruit boxes, healthy snacks and more.

we are focused in creating a healthy snacking environment away from the vending machine! our client base includes household business names from well known banks, call centres, law firms through to new start -ups.

about the role

we have an exciting opportunity for a operations team leader. this newly created position will involve a love of early mornings where you will be responsible for leading a small team of delivery drivers and ensuring the vans are all correctly loaded, delivery routes managed, and that excellent product care is always taken.

you’ll need to be assertive and be happy handling strong personalities with the ability to stay calm and keep track of every detail. with a taste for real responsibility you’ll lead with results in mind and ensure the best performances out of your team.

what will you do?

support our team of delivery drivers daily - helping with van loading, route management and ensuring all customer orders accounted for and quality checked
overseeing stock – quality control, stock management and overseeing supplier relationships
route management – accurately preparing all driver and packer team sheets
asset maintenance – overseeing all van works - equipment, driver checks
help to recruit, train and develop your team
performance management of staff
warehouse management – making sure everything stays clean, tidy and stocked
understanding of all driver routes – providing contingency cover for driver holidays and illness
strategic work – reviewing supplier relationships, route and fuel efficiency.
overseeing fruit packing team - ensuring standards met & cover when required

what you will ideally need?

1 years + experience of leading a team and a results-driven track record
outstanding organisation and multi-tasking skills
natural leadership and ability to manage different professional relationships
background ideally in fresh produce (beneficial)
logistical and operations background (ideally 1+ years)
flexibility towards working hours
ambition and desire to succeed
proactively bring business improvement ideas to the table
experience of driving long wheeled vans preferred
excellent road knowledge of edinburgh and glasgow streets. route training provided
good technical understanding of microsoft office (word, excel)
morning person
