hi,

my name is harriet (hatty).

i have cerebral palsy and am in a wheelchair. but… i do not let that get in my way. i strive for as much independence as possible! my disability is not a barrier.

i am just about to finish a three year degree course in english literature and drama studies at chichester university. drama is my passion, next year i am taking a gap year and am looking for a small team of pas to help me. in my gap year i have an internship lined up with the theatre company extraordinary bodies, working across a wide variety of areas. this ranges from running workshops to helping direct shows in places like london and plymouth. most of the year will be based in my home town of swanage, i will also be working from home, participating in a lot of zoom meeting.

the pa role consists of:

a driver – as part of my role i will have to travel locally and possibly further afield. i will need you to be okay with driving my wheelchair accessible vehicle and aged 21 or over for this purpose.
doesn’t mind their own time, but can be on hand, if needed – once i have been set up on a task, or in a meeting on my computer, i may not need you., however, i may need you to scribe for me at times.
someone who doesn’t mind personal care – i need help with all aspects of personal care, like showering and toileting. i use a hoist and a turning circle for transfer. training will be carried out by me. don’t be afraid to ask questions.
my hobbies - i like to be out and about and enjoy trips to the theatre, cinema and seeing friends – when outside i may need help with driving my chair as i have no peripheral vision. it’s okay if we have to go for a few test drives. i know a few great places for coffee in swanage! in my spare time i like to do a lot of arts and crafts so it might be nice for us to chill, chat and craft together. i also love reading, music, helping to cook and bake, as well as tv and netflix.

i am looking for a small flexible team of pas, who are willing to work either full time or part time. there will be sleep ins involved and some weekend work. the sleep-ins may across a block of 3-4 days. i also live with my amazing parents. there is a bedroom for a pa to sleep in.

rate of pay - £11.00 per hour and extra for sleep ins
