this company was established in 2019 in response to the recent surge in vehicle attacks on pedestrians in the uk as well as around the globe.

terrorist and criminal attacks continue to plague the headlines and remain an imminent threat at open access events and gatherings of large crowds of people. there was a need for a quick and efficient service utilising professionally trained personnel to install a crash-tested pedestrian permeable barrier that didn't make the community feel under threat or caged in. they aim to protect crowds at events and gatherings with quick, efficient and effective solutions.

the purpose of the role of 'installation technician' is to assist with the day to day site & yard based work required to service clients.

as a new & small business that is early to the market in an area that carries so much importance, you will have an opportunity to 'be seen' and to work directly with the businesses owner to build a truly world class business over the coming years.

typically covering the whole of the uk, you will be required to assist the 'operations manager' with asset maintenance, barrier system installation & removal and client site visits for their target market which are typically local authorities, events, stadiums and anywhere that encourages crowds of people.

national travel will be required to support the businesses activities along with some night time and weekend working where necessary. you will form part of this small team and when not on site you will generally be based in standish, wigan.

main duties

- deployment of barrier systems on sites throughout the uk

- maintenance of assets both on client sites & in the yard

- accompany the operations manager on site visits to assess client requirements

- assist where required with the operational running of the business where required during holidays and busy periods

- delivery driving using pickup's & trailers

- loading & unloading transport using a fork lift truck

- read & understand site method statements and risk assessments

- maintain exemplary customer service at all times, ensuring that the client is kept up to date with where their project is up to

this list is not exhaustive, and you will be required to undertake other duties as directed by your manager.

about you

it is not essential for you to have carried out a role identical to this. although the following skills/experience would be helpful:

- engineering/construction site experience

- highway/traffic management work experience

- equipment movement experience

- semi skilled mechanical fitting experience

- fork lift truck driving qualification

- slinging &/or rigging experience

- general practical nature

other characteristics that would prove beneficial include:

- an ability to stay calm under pressure and keep to deadlines

- team working skills

- excellent communication and relationship-building skills
