are you interested in developing the next generation of products to support the current and future energy demands, helping bridge the energy divide?. here at siemens energy subsea it is our vision to become the most valued energy technology company in the world, supporting our customers in transitioning to a more sustainable world based on our innovative technologies and our ability to turn ideas into reality. siemens energy subsea connectors has a history of solving complex engineering challenges and is recognised as a world leader in its field. we have been providing subsea electrical connectors for global oil and gas projects for over 40 years. this is an exciting time at siemens energy subsea and we intend to play our part in leading the energy transformation through the development of greener products that support the decarbonization of oil and gas operations, and products that can be diversified into new energy markets. the success of our business depends on our people and this position represents an opportunity to join a thriving environment. you will be part of a vibrant workforce and will be involved in all aspects of bringing new products to market, from the initial concept through to product launch. we are looking for ambitious design / development engineer who can ignite change and has the desire and skills to energize society and make tomorrow different today. let's talk about you. your profile. your principal role will be to provide technical support to product development projects on a number of varied tasks. this role covers conceptual and detail design, prototyping, analysis, qualification, and production support including the generation of associated documentation for all product ranges. key skills for the role include: a strong mechanical engineering background in precision engineering. experienced in the full lifecycle of product developments. excellent communication and interpersonal skills. strong work ethic, able to work of own initiative and ability to be proactive. professional and self-motivated team player. happy to challenge assumptions and generate imaginative and innovative ideas. empowered in agile working methodology. proficient in additive manufacturing techniques. competent in manufacturing processes including turning, milling, machining etc. a good understanding of materials to assist with material selection based on the functional / performance requirements of the component and product. conversant with standard software packages i.e. autodesk inventor, teamcenter and microsoft office. an appreciation of design to cost, manufacture and assembly. experienced in electrical principles in both ac/dc disciplines (preferable). knowledge in fibre optic product design (preferable). your responsibilities: generate ideas, create concepts, and produce detail designs to comply with the company, project and/or client specification. define and compile procedures for qualification testing, production assembly, production fat testing and site installation and the associated technical data sheets and reports. utilise cad (autodesk inventor) to generate 3d models of components/assemblies and detail drawings associated with them. produce calculations and documentation to support the design solutions. check and approve documentation including drawings, design documentation and calculations generated by members of the department. ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with the departmental processes for technical scope control, quality, and health & safety. support the continuous development of our department by helping identify: process errors and fixes. process improvement opportunities. equipment improvement suggestions. relevant training opportunities/suggestions. review project requirements and identify product solutions and technical guidance to enable the preparation. of bid proposals and subsequent support in client bid review meetings. provide technical support in customer or supplier meetings. provide engineering support during qualification and productionisation activities as required. mentor and assist in the skills development of trainee / design engineers. a mechanical or electro-mechanical design background in precision products with a minimum of a degree qualification in engineering and +2 years' experience (hnd will be considered as an alternative with the right level of experience). let's talk about us.
