this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of what will be a fast-growing brand that believes in creating great tasting, healthy food that's heavy on the flavours but light on the planet! all while also being light on the pocket! vetomeato is situated in central london at the historic pub 'the old crown public house' and is set to be one of the top vegan eateries in the area! we are a small but experienced team looking for the right person to join us on our journey!

key responsibilities:

as a chef/kitchen assistant you will be supporting the kitchen manager in the day to day running of the kitchen and preparing,cooking and serving dishes to a high standard to the company specifications.

key responsibilities for this position will be;

cooking and serving of dishes to a high standard in a timely manner and in accordance with the menu specifications
maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment in accordance with all relevant health and safety regulations

preventing wastage and keeping any waste to a minimum

supporting the kitchen manager in all day to day operations

maintaining stock effectively and ensuring stock is dated and rotated properly and discarded where necessary.

liasing with the venue staff to ensure a smooth running operation and deal with any day to day issues effectively



the ideal candidate will have a passion for good food and ideally a background or interest in working in a plant-based kitchen and working within a company that cares about the planet and the positive effects on the environment that can result from encouraging people to lower their consumption of animal products by providing great tasting, healthy food that can be enjoyed by anyone!

this long term role would suit someone interested in a new challenge within a company looking to grow rapidly. previous kitchen experience in a fast paced kitchen environment would be prefered. experience working within a fresh food plant based kitchen would be advantageous though full training will be given

requirements:

a forward thinking 'can do' attitude.

minimum of 2 years experience working in a fast paced kitchen environment.

some experience working with fresh and diverse plant based produce.

some understanding of basic cooking methods.

current basic/intermediate food safety certificate. help can be provided to obtain certificate if needed prior to employment.

good communication skills.

ability to perform well under pressure and work quickly.

basic knife skills essential.

able to learn and adapt quickly.
