this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential children’s support worker to join this growing team, for a therapeutic children's home in east sussex.

the home is ofsted registered to care for 5 children/young people with ld and complex needs between the ages 8-18.

residential children’s support worker

up to £26,200 - £36,200 + bonus + benefits

full time, permanent

varying shift patterns including days, afternoons, evenings and weekends + paid sleep-ins & on-call duties twice weekly, one week to include a saturday or sunday.

about the job

as a mentor you will be required to provide high quality care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of the children and young people, through providing a caring, supportive and nurturing environment, establishing positive relationships and ensuring that each young person's care plan is followed and amended to reflect their changing needs you will play a key role in their development and wellbeing.

you will provide a key role in promoting and supporting them as they move towards independence.

what you'll need to succeed

it essential you have a minimum of two years' experience supporting complex needs children. furthermore, you will ideally be an enthusiastic, committed and resilient individual who wants to make a difference by working as part of a team to support children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.

educated to gcse. (can be evidences in other professional training).ideally you will have your level 3 or above in residential children's services or equivalent.
nvq3 (in childcare) or css, cqsw, dip sw preferred but full training will be given
high standard of reporting and recording.
evidence of undertaking a supervisory role in relation to staff within a residential environment. informal and formal supervision of staff. leadership and motivational skills.
good interpersonal skills.
work on own initiative.
good communication skills.
wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and understanding of intervention strategies.
working knowledge of children’s regulations including children’s homes regulation 2015, children’s act 1987, children leaving care act 2000.
