    the production planner i is responsible for analyzing material needs and validating requirements to support the on time, on budget delivery of a quality product. this position has a moderate level of discretion and autonomy for production planning and scheduling. modifications and changes to the schedule set by the production planner i are approved by the production planning supervisor.  the position works under general supervision and will set and maintain schedules in line with the master production schedule. the plans are approved by the planning production supervisor.

     

  • duties and responsibilities (essential functions):
  •  

    a) propose the schedule of manufacturing orders in daily/weekly packages, based on master production schedule (mps) by work center capacity.

    b) release manufacturing orders for in house fabrication and assembly of parts.

    d) analyze non-conforming reports and create rework instructions for in house production.

    e) generate manufacturing orders for emergent demand and schedule them appropriately. execution based on material requirement planning (mrp) system driven action messages. 

    g) regular attendance in department team meetings to provide up to date information.

    h) review and drive shortage resolution for department shortages.

    i) maintain engineering revision control on manufacturing order revision.

    j) ensure accuracy of all manufactured items in the company enterprise resource planning (erp) system.

    k) use capacity planning tools to determine if production will be constrained in future periods; level-loading production plan when necessary, and work with operations to identify potential corrective actions such as: working overtime, adding equipment, outsourcing or expediting.

    l) responsible for inventory positioning, checking availability of raw materials, and determining if inventory levels support production schedule.

    m) work exceptions reports such as (but not limited to) excess mo’s, past due, no activity, release mo’s on time, closure, notes, etc.

    n) resolve issues by presenting various alternatives for decision at materials/production planning meetings.

    o) coordinates the flow of material and paperwork between gainesville and satellite factories in the united states and foreign countries. must be able to work with counterparts at these facilities to ensure a smooth flow and maintain schedules.

    p) performs other duties as assigned.

     

  • qualification requirements:
  •     

  • knowledge and skills:
  • i) computer skill: basic understanding of windows operating system®, microsoft excel.

    other skills: basic understanding of mrp, boms and drawings is preferred. 

    iii) organized and detailed oriented.

    iv) experience using mrp/erp systems is preferred.

    v) must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, procurement, and manufacturing departments.

    vi) must have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes.

    v) must have experience using computer programs in windows/office applications such as excel spreadsheets, word, power point, and email.

    vi) flexible to customer changes, urgencies, and make good decisions under pressure, also able to work reasonable over time when required.

     

  • education and experience:
  • i) education:.  associates degree or 3 years of manufacturing related experience required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

    ii) experience: 1 year of production planning preferred.

    must have good ability of verbal and written communication, and to operate required office equipment. speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in english.

    this position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
