family description and location

this is a lovely job for an experienced housekeeper to work on a beautiful estate situated near amersham in buckinghamshire.

the estate has a main house which has been modernised to a high standard with ancillary buildings, the main house is used by an overseas principal his wife and children who visit the estate in the summer months and will be here for june and july. you would be working as part of the team, with a land manager, his wife who is a ‘hands on’ house manager/head housekeeper, and when the family visit the house is fully staffed accordingly. the house is 3.5 miles from the amersham metropolitan line and there is also a direct train from marylebone to beaconsfield (beaconsfield is 2.8 miles) (36 minutes direct train)

job description

your role will be to keep the properties cleaned and well presented at all times, and when needed making up the principal’s suite and guest rooms etc. at all times the house manager/head housekeeper will be there to help you as she is very ‘hands on’ in her role also. laundry and ironing, including the care of fine fabrics, meeting and greeting visitors, setting the table occasionally for meals, and whatever else is needed to keep the property running smoothly. when they are not in residence you will help the house manager to deep clean areas & do silver polishing & glass polishing, along with checking & cleaning art works & antique furniture. this is a role for someone who wants to work as part of a very happy friendly informal team, who has an eye for detail and wants to work at a top level.

candidate requirements

it is essential that you have worked as a housekeeper in an executive style residence, or top-level hotel for at least 2 years with suitable references. you will also need to speak good english, be well presented, able to work to a high level and happy to work on your own and as part of a team.

days of work, accommodation and salary

this is a live out role working monday to saturday 9am to 5pm. there may be an option to finish earlier on a saturday & there will be some downtime other times where possibly finishing earlier is fine directed by the house manager. they are looking for a top-level housekeeper and are paying a top salary of £20-£25 gross per hour plus your daily return train fare, taxi and or petrol if you drive. this is a fixed term contract for 2 months. june and july only.
