Laboratory assistant i - united states, durham
a laboratory assistant role in durham, nc is now available through adecco medical and science. in this role, they are looking for new graduates with an interest in plant science and molecular biology. it’s a great opportunity for someone to get a taste of agricultural biotech research. please note that this a minimum 6-month temp/contract position starting in june 2022. the hours are monday-friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.
research skills preferred:
experience independently planning and executing research projects in plant science, including presenting results and planning next steps
skills and experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and plant care.
high level of comfort with data entry, processing, analysis, and presentation, including producing charts and tables for communicating results
qualifications:
minimum of 6-months of experience with molecular biology (pcr, cloning) and plant care in field or greenhouse environment.
creative and curious person interested in plant biology research and will perform research activities and other tasks as necessary in a mixed laboratory and greenhouse setting, including documenting, observations and measurements and reporting results, conclusions and next steps.
minimum of at least two years of college level study in biology, plant biology, horticulture or related field.
has a sincere and long-standing interest in plant biology or agricultural research - this interest is the priority in hiring.
strong background in plant biology, agriculture.
high level of personal integrity, which is critical both for faithful execution of experimental designs and appropriate documenting of results.
wants to work on basic biology and applied biology research projects for the improvement of agriculture and/or for the pursuit of knowledge in basic biology.
works without immediate supervision and is willing to work alone and make decisions on how to best execute experiments.
is willing to handle both project management tasks as well as laboratory / greenhouse scientific activities.
