Welder fabricator - united kingdom, sandy, bedfordshire

multi-skilled welder / fabricator engineer is required by long established and respected engineering manufacturing company.

rate £13 to £16 an hour depending on experience

this interesting and varied “hands on” role is building various foods processing equipment.

basic function

welding and fabrication in stainless steel material 1.0mm – 12mm thickness including pipework / purge. it is expected you know how to read engineering drawings, understand tolerances / bend allowances / being experienced in / fabrication and sheet-metal machinery.

you must be able to work within a team running and activities incurred on the shop floor / sometimes on site and in all aspects including health & safety production, inspection and discipline.

to assist in the day to day running of the factory production areas and jobs allotted to your control in accordance with the schedules and completion dates assigned. modern manufacturing methods.
the keeping of good order, motivation and discipline while working the factory / site.
to uphold the correct use and maintenance of equipment used on the shop floor and site installation / service.
to establish and uphold a professional and confident rapport when carrying out your daily duties and conferring with shop floor personnel.
to upholding health & safety – risk assessments / method statements.
to uphold the company rules and ruling communicated via management.
to offer customer support while working on site, looking at all scenarios in reducing machinery down time.
being available on occasions for work during unsociable hours during the weekend / nightshift.

general objectives and responsibilities

to carry out a policy of valve engineering when working in the factory / on site.
to maintain an environment where standards on hygiene, discipline, attendance and good time keeping are upheld.
to create and implement productivity gains, be it equipment or policies using your knowledge and experience to benefit the company.

city & guilds qualifications in welding and fabrication / apprentice in engineering would be an advantage.

you would be contracted to work 39 hour monday – friday with a 10 minute tea break 10.00am - 10.00am and ½ hour lunch-break 1.00pm - 1.30pm.

it is expected you will do a reasonable amount of overtime to cover your basic functional duties.

your rate is to be negotiated depending on experience.
