our client, a speciality manufacturer of equipment utilized in the textiles industry is seeking a cad expert, mechanical design engineer for their plant located near burlington, nc. if the following interests you please do not hesistate to apply!
essential responsibilities:
design, develop, evaluate, and implement new products required for the company.
contributes to r&d for new product development, upgrades on functionality, and improvements to safety, quality, and performance.
responsible for design documentation on requirements specification, engineering analysis, drawings, test plans/procedures, assemblies, products to production, and production start-up support.
prepare the bill of materials for sub-assemblies of the project assigned.
supports the manufacturing engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving issues discovered during production.
supports the sales and marketing team with the quoting process.
awareness of technical developments in the mechanical field through literature, technical contacts, and industry competition.
pick out the best practices in mechanical design analysis, modeling, and tolerance analysis to produce a highly viable mechanical model.
performs other engineering duties as assigned.
requirements:
good understanding of mechanical design & drafting standards
proficiency in solidworks, autodesk inventor, autocad
comfortable working with both imperial and metric systems
excellent oral and written communication in english
collaborative work ethic in both virtual and in-person settings
attention to detail
functional aptitude for engineering design for manufacturability and assembly
can work with ambiguity and minimal supervision
adaptability to evolving business priorities
up to 20% domestic and 5% international travel
education & experience:
degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification
proven experience using cad software for engineering design
previous experience in design layouts and 3d modeling
previous experience using erp and bom systems
experience in developing products from the concept stage through prototyping, final design, and manufacturing is preferred
experience with structural fea analysis is a plus
3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience
