department description

hadspen house is the focal point of our estate, a 23-bedroom hotel with spa, bar and restaurant. in the botanical rooms we offer a true, garden to fork dining experience in a beautifully designed, atmospheric 60 cover restaurant. all food is prepared in our kitchen with fresh, seasonal ingredients from our estate. an all-day operation, serving breakfast through to dinner, cream tea in the afternoon and early evening cocktails on the croquet lawn.

position summary

as assistant restaurant manager you will ensure smooth and efficient running of the botanical rooms. you will be confident, self-motivated, lead from the front and be passionate about great hospitality. prime focus will be on the guest experience whilst supporting the restaurant team in delivering exceptional service. in the absence of the restaurant manager, you will be responsible for running the department with a team of 25 staff. creating a close working relationship with your manager is key, as department fluidity is essential for our business.

maintain company reputation by ensuring you and your team always look impeccable.
work hand-in-hand with the kitchen team and beverage team.
support the manager in team recruitment, training & development.
manage restaurant rota & holiday whilst controlling labour cost and required staffing levels.
maintain restaurant standards through managing routine systems & improving where necessary.
liaise with events team to ensure special guests & experiences are executed beyond expectation.
supports the f&b managers in stock control and costs.
manage the restaurant team’s h&s and food safety training through company program eha.
ensure the newt’s style of service and ethos is always upheld.

skills and experience

previous experience working in high-end restaurant or hotel required:
1 year minimum assistant manager
2 years minimum supervisor role
you must be willing to work in a fast pace & flexible environment
confident in high level restaurant service and feels comfortable leading and training a team
willingness to develop your current skillset
fantastic attention to detail
great time management and self-motivated
microsoft office and basic computer skills essential
passion for food, beverage and luxury hospitality
