Rehabilitation support / day-time companion - united kingdom, wales

i’m looking for a caring, patient and positive individual to provide rehabilitation support and companionship to my 67 year old father who lives alone in bassaleg, newport. dad had a stroke in april 2021, which has left him with right-sided weakness affecting his mobility. he is also unable to speak or write fluently. prior to the stroke, he was very fit, healthy, enjoyed the outdoors, sports, ran an online language school and spoke multiple languages. he is absolutely determined to re-learn household tasks, to reintegrate back into society, and he continues to make progress weekly. i am now looking for someone to support me with his care so that we can ensure that his ongoing therapy and rehabilitation is maintained and uninterrupted.

the ideal person will be able to accompany dad to groups and appointments, and encourage and motivate him with his therapy “homework”. you should be confident, outgoing, and have a good sense of humour! access to a car and clean driving licence is essential, as is eligibility to live and work in the uk.

terms and conditions:

hours: monday to friday: 13.00 to 17.00

salary: £10.87/hour – paid on a 4-weekly basis via bacs

expenses: £0.40/mile when accompanying him in the community

contract: initial 6 month contract (subject to 4 week trial period) so that we can review dad's progress and adjust tasks accordingly.
