temporary contract: 12 weeks (with possibility for extension)

job duties:

knowledge of benefits and housing issues
utilising caseworker to log files
answering phone calls and emails
meeting constituents in office and site visits
maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation
overall management of the member's diary commitments, delegating tasks to others as appropriate
planning and organising small constituency based events
assisting cara hunter mla in preparing for visits, events, questions and motions.
providing secretarial support for meetings and zoom calls as required
building relationships with business, community and other groups in constituency
knowledge of needs of east derry constituency

liaising with groups within the constituency and the general public on the member's behalf as necessary
assisting with aspects of budget and contracts, keeping the member informed of all relevant financial matters
responsibility for efficient data and file management to comply with gdpr
responding to correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups
dealing with complex queries and complaints on member's behalf, including drafting and signing letters
gathering relevant information to resolve or progress cases
liaising with government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
attending surgeries, tribunals and meetings as appropriate
organising constituency clinics

ensuring all casework is logged; monitoring progress and ensuring all identified actions are taken
ensuring that enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially
other duties as required in support of the cara hunter mla carrying out their assembly duties

hours: 9am to 5pm

qualifications / relevant experience:

- degree (or equivalent qualification) and 2 year’s recent experience of working in a similar role

· (recent experience is within the past 5 years)

· proven experience within your employment of liaising with government agencies / voluntary sector or others to resolve issues.

· a strong commitment to sdlp principles and values

- well-developed leadership qualities

desirable:

knowledge of local community needs.
