our client, a world class fabricator of custom solutions is currently seeking a design engineer for direct hire. this is a great opportunity to work with world class brands.
brief summary:
the design engineer’s primary responsibility is to interpret client design intents and value engineer product to generate fabrication shop drawings within the budgetary constraints. this includes using a cad system for drawing, basic mathematical calculations, material selection research, defining fabrication methods and techniques and product quality. the design engineer will collaborate effectively with all other departments to ensure efficient and accurate production. this is a safety sensitive position; this individual could be required to be in our fabrication shop or on site at an installation at any time. compensation is commensurate with level of related experience.
essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
? shop drawing creation; submittals, redlines, as-builts
? gathering and documenting all relevant information within the shop drawings
? value engineering
? fabrication methodology while incorporating national standards such as ul, nec, building code, ada, etc.
? product testing and selection and new technology, materials, and vendor research
? quality control; identifying, anticipating, and correcting mistakes or issues
? working within scheduled time frames and managing multiple projects simultaneously
? collaborate with fabrication teams throughout the build process to answer questions and refine techniques
? client communication as required
? other duties as assigned
skills/requirements:
? degree in engineering, industrial design or a related field and 2-3 years of experience
? excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
? superb math skills and creative problem-solving ability
? time management skills
? firsthand experience in designing and building mechanical items
? a good graphic and design sense
? thorough knowledge of materials, technology, and fabrication techniques
? prior work experience in related field - architectural or mechanical
? knowledge of basic electrical wiring desired
? proficiency in auto cad or other cad software; experience in technical or architectural drafting
? hand sketching ability
? ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team; can take direction
