Automation technician - united states, charleston (south carolina)
automation technicians are the first line of defense to keep systems running smoothly, ensuring manufacturing downtime is at a minimum. these roles work closely with, and, are mentored by, and are integral members of, the automation engineering team.
this position is with a leading, high volume, metals manufacturer, and plays the following roles:
utilizing various tools to troubleshoot and resolve critical hardware and technical processes
diagnosing and coordinating replacement of process systems to include: pc, tc, cameras, networking, and other related equipment
maintaining department backups, inventory, and documentation
first point of contact for all calls concerning department supported equipment and coordinate involvement of engineering team
working with internal and external business units to meet best practice standards
experience desired:
bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science field or associates degree with 3+ years’ experience in technical and/or process control hardware and control systems programming
strong skills in data analysis including real-time trending
knowledge of vmware, windows, networking, and plc hardware/software
knowledge and capacity to independently troubleshoot process control computer hardware and software including equipment such as: plc’s, vme based systems, personal computers, network and communications equipment, and computer software
desire to improve skills in these areas via on the job training and/or formal training
support off-hours support via phone, vpn, and/or on-site
independently manage multiple tasks and priorities and potentially work rotating shifts
