responsibilities of the it support engineer:

provide first class technical support, via it helpdesk, phone, email and face-to-face
assist and lead on a variety of it projects, internally and on client sites
identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, both remotely and in person.
develop strong client relationships, going the extra mile to deliver an exceptional service
talk clients through a variety of actions, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
specify and support the roll out of new equipment and applications
test and evaluate new technology
collaborate with colleagues, ensuring issues are resolved within agreed timescales.
work with the business support team to produce quotes and ensure accurate billing
record time, complete administration, reports and procedural documentation as required

about you

skills and experience required:

experience gained working in it support (internally or for an it support provider)
high levels of organisation and time management.
a strong relationship builder with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
a collaborative team player and a results focused, motivated self-starter.
excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
commercially aware, seeking to drive improvement and add value
the ability to diagnose hardware and software problems on servers and end-user devices.

you will have good understanding of a wide range of technology, to include some of the following:

microsoft 365 platform (azure active directory, exchange on-line, dynamic group creation, ms teams, sharepoint, onedrive)
windows server 2012 onwards
windows (7 or later) and/or android, ios, macos
vmware and hyper-v virtualisation platforms
networking concepts
mobile device management (mdm) solutions
pc components and compatibility, with the ability to assemble / replace parts as necessary
service and cloud back-up solutions
voip and video conferencing platforms
synology and qnap nas appliances

a full driving license is desirable.

hours and flexibility

this is ideally a full-time role, but we are happy to provide a degree of flexibility with working hours if required. the successful it support engineer will work both in the central leeds office (ls11), where parking is available, and on client sites, the majority of which are within a 1-hour drive of the office.
