all of this shared enthusiasm and effort requires some really effective 'stage management' to make sure we collectively deliver the best possible support for all of our clients - this is where our community engagement manager role can add great value.

we are looking for:

a candidate that has a good understanding of managing a diverse team; of developing and implementing service user involvement and co-production strategies; has excellent relationship building skills and is experienced in building a volunteer workforce.

you will be an advocate of the voice of our service users, and able to bring constructive challenge into the mental health leadership team to ensure that service user needs are front and centre of what we do.

about the job

an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our high-quality mental health services in the south east.

this service is about ensuring our services are designed for and deliver to, the people who need them.

the role will focus on three areas:

leading our service user engagement and co-production strategy to put service users at the heart of the design of our services.

leading our outreach work and overseeing a team of outreach workers to develop joint working agreements and referral protocols for with our stakeholders.

building our volunteer and peer support networks across the mental health services to ensure that people have opportunities to feed into these vital parts of the service workforce and influence service delivery in supporting our service users.

we welcome applications from candidates with any of the following skills or attributes: engagement, relationship management, coordination, home based, iapt.

essential skillsto be successful in this role you will need:

an onc/nvq level 3 or equivalent and evidence of further management study/commitment to study over the next 18 monthsa proven track record of successfully managing people based within a range of community-based rolesexperience of engaging with service users and incorporating their feedback into the development of servicesexperience of managing volunteers and leading them in change programmesto demonstrate your commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion by showing how you have ensured volunteer roles meet these important criteriaexperience of building effective working relationships/partnerships with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies with successful outcomesthe ability to manage high risk situations, understanding the health and safety implications and requirementsan understanding of those people who are facing mental health issues and/or drug/alcohol misuseto be able to work under pressure, prioritise your work and deal with conflicting demands on your time effectivelygood written and oral communication skills, used to working with it packages and digital mediato be able to work unsocial hours if required and travel across the uk this role requires a satisfactory enhanced dbs/pvg (adult and child barred list) check.

desirable skillswhile these are not essential for the role, if candidates can also demonstrate the following it will be an advantage:

a volunteer management qualification have lived experience of drugs, alcohol or mental health related issuesabout companyeveryone should feel comfortable getting the support they need for issues with drugs, alcohol or mental health.
