senior strategist is a critical role at horizon. the success of our projects rests on translating truly exceptional human insights into actionable commercial recommendations. the senior strategist will champion business strategy or strategic design (including cx) in the business and will create real client impact. the ideal candidate is a true expert at designing, managing, and delivering projects with significant insights gathering components. they combine analytical rigour with a storytelling ability and can structure commercial recommendations in a compelling way that persuades clients to act and makes the complex seem simple. they have an intuitive understanding of how and why people behave and can go beyond what is said to what is truly important. they have a sixth sense for the kinds of insights that have business relevance and can tailor their approach accordingly. horizon strategy intends to invest significantly into the candidate’s training and development. there is a potential for the candidate to make a significant impact on the business from day one, working directly with senior executives, including c-suite.
responsibilities & deliverables:
designing and delivering bespoke research projects for a variety of project engagement types (extensive qualitative research design/build/analyse ability a must)
project management and delivery
client management
management of recruiters & local-language moderators
creation of research materials, including discussion guides, stimuli and workshops
conducting desk research, and synthesis of third-party sources of insight
leading interviews, groups and workshops
synthesis and analysis
delivering presentations
essential capabilities required:
top class degree
a* thinker-doer
6+ years of experience in strategic insights / research agencies, design agencies or consulting
tech-client experience
b2b and b2c experience
experience in managing multiple projects and their respective research components simultaneously
ability to balance words-pictures-numbers (with clear strength in one area)
deep experience of qualitative methods (including depth-interviews, co-development / co-creation, ethnography, online)
experience with data analysis and storytelling through data
creative approach to research – able to adapt methodologies to different audience types and types of engagement
ability to synthesise multiple research sources and deliver clear analysis
thought leadership / strong interest in a relevant area relating to research impact (e.g. psychology, behavioural analysis, research approaches)
absolute fluency in spoken and written english
intelligent, elegant writer
advanced powerpoint, excel, and word skills attitude factors sought:
ability to work under pressure, manage several tasks simultaneously and respond quickly to changing circumstances and priorities
