Laboratory technician - united kingdom, scotland

levenseat are recruiting for a laboratory technician to work within the technical department. with an expanding minerals department and increasing number of end-of-waste accredited aggregate products in production, the analysis requirement at the core of accreditation is ever evolving and growing. levenseat are searching for a candidate with experience working in a laboratory, conforming to industry standards.

the ideal candidate will come from a metallurgical/aggregate lab technician background, enabling them to carry out the required in-house analysis, and expand the testing suite in the on-site lab.

you would also be responsible for maintaining relationships with external labs, searching for alternative and more economic analysis options, and organising material analysis and couriers. the role involves working in the on-site lab to facilitate psd testing and co-ordinating with external labs to adhere to the analysis schedule required to achieve end-of-waste status, conform to the ppc permit and undertake trial analysis.

the candidate would be responsible for analysis administration consisting of: managing the analysis database, obtaining analysis quotations from external labs, organising sample couriers and pickup, tracking and collating results and computing analysis results to create appropriate reports. the candidate would also participate in r&d work on various material streams, planning process trials, writing trial protocols including planned sampling procedure and analysis suite, working with the ops team to carryout the trial and collating the results.

further desk-based duties include updating the factory production control procedures associated with producing end of waste accredited materials, working with the ops team to implement these procedures and regularly revise as necessary to ensure conformity.

the candidate must also be willing to work outdoors, carrying out sampling of material streams for multiple on-site processes, across various operating sites, conforming to sampling protocols and schedules.

essential skillsthe ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory, and preferably a backround in metallurgical/aggregate sampling analysis.
