Accounts assistant - united kingdom, haywards heath, west sussex

we have an exciting opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic accounts assistant to join our company. we offer specialist services in all aspects of tree care, fencing, grounds maintenance, hard and soft landscaping and we work on variety of exciting residential, commercial, and council projects. we are looking for an experienced and qualified professional who is eager to get stuck in and help with all aspects of accounts department. the successful candidate will be reporting to the financial controller.

we are located in the area with no easy access to public transport therefore own transport is essential.

key responsibilities:

- purchase ledger - matching, checking and coding invoices

- making payments via bacs

- filing invoices

- sales ledger - producing and issuing invoices for all sales

- credit control

- producing statements to show sales income

- answering queries

- bank reconciliation - allocating payments

- liaising with contract managers

- assisting and covering other roles within the department

the ideal candidate:

- commercially astute and a dynamic, strategic thinker

- ideally worked for construction industry, but not necessary

- excellent analytical skills, with the ability to present findings to people across departments

- aat not necessary, but experience of minimum 2 years in sales & purchase ledger required

- ideally have experience of xero, but training will be given

about us

we comprise of two companies; a contractor sector who works in landscaping and tree surgery, and a composting services who take green waste on the local recycling facility and convert it to landscaping products as well as producing biofuel. we work across london and the south-east, but you will be working primarily for the contractors side of the business in scaynes hill, near haywards heath in west sussex.
