job scope / purpose
the support worker will assist with the delivery of a secure, positive, stimulating and fun environment for users of the club and its co-workers whilst working to regulatory compliance requirements. the support worker should be caring, approachable, able to work on their own initiative, be reliable, organised and have customer care skills
responsibilities
supervision and observation of activities, facilitating interaction and enablement implementation of all club policies, including child protection, equal opportunities, food safety, security, confidentiality etc dropping children off and collecting them from school in accordance with club procedures assist club manager and deputy manager in planning play activities facilitating play activities feedback to club manager based on observation and evaluation of play, risk assessments and customer comments/complaints preparing and clearing away activities, always ensuring a safe play environment preparation of snacks, following food safety procedures assist with daily administration tasks as directed by senior staff any other duties required by the club manager or management committee responsible for own health and safety as well as ensuring the club complies with h&s regulations responsible for maintaining good relations with parents, children and other contacts
experience
experience of working with children in a play worker capacity in childcare or equivalent setting experience of supporting and delivering a programme of activities for children
qualifications & training
a willingness to work towards an svq level 3 playwork at scqf level 6 qualification, to demonstrate a competence in job related skills participate in training courses for further training and development
knowledge & skills
good communicator (written/oral) and able to build rapport, quickly and effectively highly organised, motivated, self-starter knowledge of care commission regulations, national care standards and girfec is desirable but not essential an understanding of childcare partnership is desirable but not essential
