as an accounts assistant at barco, you will provide all round support in the day to day functions of the accounts department from the sales and purchase ledgers to the daily cash postings and bank reconciliations.

in time you will also develop new or existing accounting skills by assisting the fc and accounts supervisor with aspects of management accounting and account reconciliations.

responsibilities of the accounts assistant

purchase ledger tasks; coding and processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements, preparing weekly and monthly payment runs
sales ledger tasks including daily invoices, preparing new customer accounts, credit reviews
credit control
assist in investigating and resolving supplier and customer queries

bank reconciliations
credit card statement reconciliation
assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
journal preparation
assist with monthly p&l and balance sheet reconciliations
ownership of anomalies and discrepancies arising from accounts reviews
managing petty cash, milage and expenses
support and cover other members of the finance team as required

key performance indicators:

accurate and timely work production
ability to review reconciliations and challenge unusual transactions or postings
ability to use own initiative and exercise problem solving skills
confidently communicate at all levels both inside and outside the organisation

person specification

the ideal candidate will have at least three years’ hands-on accounting experience, with strong sales and purchase ledger experience. the candidate will also have some proven knowledge of low to mid-level accountancy, aat qualified or part qualified desirable.
