Technical service engineer - united kingdom, bishops stortford, hertfordshire

the technical service engineer will operate at an advanced technical level to provide expert advice and solutions to customers. this is a hybrid role of field service engineering as required, with on-site support to customers around the country and world. you will be improving the service department processes and manuals.

the successful candidate will have experience in carrying out corrective and preventative work on complex equipment within a complex sector, i.e. aerospace or medical equipment.

this is predominantly a site-based engineering role working from their site in bishop's stortford.

the key responsibilities for the role are:

* develop, improve and organise technical support faqs, manuals, and user/service manuals

* during peak seasons or for international clients - be a field service engineer to service and calibrate instruments. this can be across the uk (typically within a three-hour radius of head office) or to overseas customers, mainly in europe.

* provide a timely tech support function via email/phone/video for distributor partners and direct customers around the world.

* determine the most cost-effective repair/solution to minimise customer downtime

* produce and manage customer maintenance contracts

* develop and maintain relationships with customers, service department and colleagues to ensure maximum customer satisfaction

the necessary skills, knowledge and experience required to be successful in the role are:

* hnc (nvq level 4) or higher in electroniclectrical engineering or equivalent is essential

* strong medical device, aerospace or similar service engineering experience

* experience in developing support faq and service manuals

* experienced logical problem solver with the ability to work independently

* deliver high levels of customer service

* flexibility regarding regular travel throughout the uk and to europe (not frequent)

* full driver's license and passport for overseas travel
