summary:
purchasing- proactively find solutions to material needs utilizing standard purchasing methods and by pursuing alternatives to current procurement methods, while maintaining a constant supply of material and maintaining overall inventory levels. review material reports (ex. open order report) to ensure that the execution of all purchase orders are on time or pulled in according to build rate and forecast. work with sales and production to manage inventory through the use of production planning, forecasting and visual signaling methods.
planning- coordinate with production supervision the planning/forecasting of material needs to support overall build schedules. attend production meetings and help align material needs with customer needs through the process. meet with the leaders of each department to understand support needs.
purchasing/planning responsibilities:
procures and plans all materials, products and services utilized throughout the company
orders materials and supplies; monitors/tracks delivery and follows through when necessary
sources new vendors and negotiates pricing
works with accounting and receiving departments regarding pricing, allocation of materials among departments and delivery/receipt issues. monitors and updates all purchase orders to ensure that all pricing and delivery dates are correct.
prepares and maintains weekly spreadsheet listing all open orders and required delivery dates.
negotiates transportation costs with freight carriers for product being shipped from both the company and vendors.
support residential division to create reorder signals, cycle count, and manage overall inventory needs
work with sales/admin to filter and coordinate sales orders
attend production meetings to assist with scheduling demands. provide materials feedback in meeting.
assist with customer communications related to scheduling and shipments related to material availability
assist in aligning production planning with materials and production capacity. work with production to review cycle counts and visual reorder signals to maintain inventory to support on-time deliveries. use forecasting and erp to effectively maintain inventory levels.
