summary
the quality control inspector position is responsible for the approval/rejection process of all incoming parts, in process work, and complete assembly shipments. the inspector has experience with quality measurement tools and knowledge of quality metrics. the inspector must be able to interact with all departments manufacturing, purchasing and engineering in order to effectively keep the flow of raw materials and final shipments moving efficiently. the inspector will report directly to the vp of operations.
responsibilities
essential duties and responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned.
implement/oversee the company quality program in the shop
process/complete incoming inspections, on floor in process inspections/rejections
maintain and use inspection tools (visual sorting, micrometer, veneer calipers, tape measure video borescope etc.)
ability to read blueprints and calculate tolerance stack ups
ability to use a computer (ms word, excel, outlook)
recommend and/or verifies implementation of appropriate corrective action for quality issues, in coordination with management, engineering and purchasing
proficient with precision measuring instrumentation
receiving & cataloging of mtr’s
review incoming mtr’s, cfc’s and all certs to match incoming materials
writing of gmp’s and sop’s
non-conformities reporting
assist in facilitating the rga process
participate in final hydro tests of asme products
work with ai and/or 3rd party customer inspectors on product inspections
maintain record keeping of all welder certifications and inspect welders work log and traveler packages.
performs other duties as required
qualifications
2-5+ years experience in quality in a manufacturing environment
knowledge of industry quality systems and standards, such as asme, ansi, astm, & aws required
knowledge of basic welding fundamentals: being able to detect under cuts, full penetration weld, and weld shape uniformity
able to adapt to changing responsibilities
good verbal and written communication skills (contact with suppliers, contractors, freight representatives, auditors, etc.)
mechanically inclined
ability to work safely
understanding of basic statistics aql and 5s
familiarity with erp systems/ understanding of bill of materials & inventory
