as an executive director fsp pillar head, you will provide a key biostatistics department leadership position for functional fsp activities including the creation and oversight of the implementation of fsp strategic plans. this position is also a key member of our clinical research group s fsp senior leadership team.

summarized purpose:

oversee administrative and scientific activities of the biostatistics department s fsp business segment, including direct supervision of fsp statistical and programming leaders. assist in the fsp marketing and bidding efforts of the company, focusing on fsp business acquisition and motivating scientific expertise. participates in key strategic leadership activities for the whole of biostatistics and programming department.

essential functions and other job information:

casts vision: in collaboration with department vice president and sr. management, creates future vision and strategies for the department and provides significant influence to create an inspired workforce to fulfil those visions.

plans strategically: completes long-range strategic planning, develops of departmental business plan, and departmental budget.

develops client business: represents biostatistics provision of services in business development opportunities and collaborates with other business functions to acquire new and repeat customer business through marketing presentations and preparation of bids.

conducts senior management communication: communicates company and department news, policies, award, achievements, and business updates to the department workforce.

invests in our people: responsible for people management including personnel recruitment, promotion, and termination; allocation/coordination of work assignments; and conflict resolution, in compliance with ppd eeo/aa policy. develop and grow the workforce by providing resources and opportunities for competency development, completing performance planning activities, conducting succession planning, and conducting regular talent reviews.

upholds quality standards: assess department s adherence to working practices and sop s on an ongoing basis. facilitate changes as needed. participate in global committees to evaluate company-wide direction on these procedures. review and/or approve documents related to project activities.

oversees resourcing: responsible for overseeing strategies regarding the resourcing for the departments provision of services to our customers. ensure that appropriate personnel resources are applied to department projects based on deliverable priorities and relative complexity.

involves in study work/client relationships: participate as needed to support our biostatistics and programming provision of services, including representing our department to our clients, e.g., as part of various executive or steering committees with the client and other functions.

general leadership: provides general development support to the biostatistics department. examples could include presentation / teaching at the bios department meetings, providing direction on new process initiatives, contributing to other general department documents or policies, and assure training of new staff.

qualifications:

education and experience:

master s degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field with 13+ years experience, partnered with 7+ years of management experience.

or , at least 15 years of experience whilst holding a bachelor s degree.

knowledge, skills and abilities:

capable of leading, managing and setting strategic direction in a multi-disciplinary team setting

previous experience overseeing an fsp business segment, including marketing and bidding efforts (highly desirable)

capable of managing and leading staff in other locations as required

outstanding management skills, as shown through management of multiple projects and staff members and evidence of mentoring and staff guidance

capable of recognizing need for process improvement and carrying forward process improvement objectives

capable of facilitating communications with clients, project teams, departments and staff

advanced understanding of budgeting and forecasting to participate in bidding and business development activities

thorough understanding of working with large, complex data systems

demonstrated strong attention to detail

demonstrated logical thought and strong understanding of database structures

outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in the english language

positive attitude and enthusiasm toward work
