general summary:

with a great can-do attitude, under the general direction of the lead or management team, the line cook plays an integral part of the back of house operations. providing to the overall guest dining experience, the line cook is directly responsible for the preparation of ordered dishes, appetizers, and food items for restaurant related dishes. the line cook takes a hands-on approach to ensure 100% recipe compliance and the timeliness of each dish coming off the line. in times of need, the line cook may act in the capacity of the dishwasher/prep cook.

essential duties and responsibilities:

prepares and executes dishes in accordance with set recipe direction and guidelines.
proactively receives orders and prepares dishes in the order received. unless otherwise directed by the lead or management team.
operates and understands all kitchen equipment.
reports poor food quality and issues with any restaurant equipment to management team.
keep the dish racks clean, neat, and organized.
work and keep up in a fast-paced, high pressure environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
operates kitchen washing machines (if available).
works well in a team environment with all levels of team members.
exhibits professional and effective communication amongst both foh and boh staff.
immediately reports concerns and possible policy violations to the lead or management team on duty.
follows all company policies and procedures.
maintains a clean and sanitary workspace.
prepares food items according to restaurant concept guidelines and specifications.
ensures that all food is properly labeled, dated, and signed.
ensures proper rotation of prepared and unprepared foods to ensure quality/freshness.
receives all vendor deliveries and ensures first in first out (fifo) method of inventory management.
must have strong verbal and written communication skills in english.
ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
ability to push, pull, and lift up to 45 pounds.
100% compliance with all food safety/sanitation rules and regulations.
additional tasks as directed by management.
