the child and family guidance center provides comprehensive and collaborative outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents and their families throughout the san fernando and antelope valleys.

the position:

we are seeking a child & family specialist for our palmdale facility to work in our full service partnership (fsp) program. fsp is a specialized, intensive, community-based program for children, adolescents and transitional age youth with serious mental health problems. the child and family specialist will be primarily responsible for providing rehabilitation and case management services.

essential job functions:

provides rehabilitative services to selected clients within cfgc programs.
works as a member of the cfgc and full service partnership (fsp) treatment teams.
conducts community outreach and engagement services with potential fsp clients as assigned.
participates with clinicians and other professionals in treatment team meetings.
under the direction of the clinician assigned to each case, provides services to caseload of children/adolescents and their families/caregivers, services include:
day to day support to children/adolescents and their families/caregivers.
appropriate, positive role models to children/adolescents.
training in social skills, communication, anger management, and self-assertion.
providing information on community resources and programs.
maintains regular contact with staff of referring agency and other agencies involved with the case.
develops and maintains working relationships with other community programs and resources.
participates in inter-agency meetings as appropriate, in order to collaborate and cooperate in meeting the needs of children/adolescents in the program.
may participate in therapy sessions as requested by the clinician.
maintains records of contacts and services provided, including all dmh and dcfs documentation as assigned.
provides transportation of clients to and from scheduled program activities and appointments as appropriate.

skills you need:

bilingual in english / spanish preferred.
experience working with emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and families.
ability to be respectful of all cultures and religious beliefs and work within a family system.
ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with all levels of staff, clients, and colleagues.
must have a good attendance record in addition to being punctual by consistently being on time to work, meetings and appointments.
must be able to maintain confidentiality.
must have a clean clear driving record.

hours:     

monday through friday (40 hours per week)
hours vary – must have the ability to work non-traditional schedule with a 24/7 on call
work schedule is based on the needs of the center
education required:

b.a. in human services or social service field. requirement for b.a. may be waived if applicant has a.a. and commensurate experience.

contingencies:

must be fully vaccinated/boosted to comply with the california department of public health (cdph) and lausd mandate. the center will provide accommodations as required by applicable law.
