Academic leadership charter school, a national blue ribbon winning school in the
south bronx seeks college graduates to serve as an art teacher. we are seeking
individuals who understand and promote the school’s mission and vision. we are
looking for committed individuals dedicated to growing as teachers in the areas of
curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, student success/well-
being and school community.
responsibilities
• conduct art classes consistent with new york state standards
• develop students creative process and foster their talents, while deepening their
knowledge and understanding of elementary level art, design, and art history while
providing a safe learning environment
• collaboratively plan with teachers to align with content area curricula
• execute art lessons centered around character education such as anti-bullying, good
citizenship, good sportsmanship, etc.
• ensure the safety of students under your supervision
• supervision of students including morning entry, breakfast duty lunch duty,
dismissal, substitute teaching, supervision of extracurricular activities and dismissal
• bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred)
• desire to work in a teacher-driven, student-centered environment
• ability to work well with colleagues
• ability to communicate effectively with parents and families
• belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
• ability to teach a core subject for full-time positions (mathematics, english, social
studies, science)
