Safety coordinator - united states, visalia

the essential aspects of this job include overall safety of the plant operations. the safety coordinator will accomplish this through developing safety programs and documentation of safety compliance.

  • plans and coordinates the implementation of plant environment, health and safety programs in support of corporate-wide safety and health guidelines and standards to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries and environmental issues. this position provides on-site leadership, guidance, training, and assistance to in achieving superior environment, health and safety performance.
  • position responsibilities:

  • develops, implements, and drives culture toward a zero-incident work environment. identifies and addresses unsafe conditions and behaviors, which could result in injury.
  • develops and implements environment, health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety & health standards. provide continuous expert ehs knowledge to the plant personnel.
  • develops and maintains the health, safety and environmental records, monitoring and measuring systems for the facility.
  • conducts inspections of machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and health regulations.
  • manages safety incident investigation process to ascertain root cause(s) - for use in recommending preventive safety measures and improving the safety program.
  • develops, conducts, and/or coordinates training to promote health and safety, safe operation of equipment, and compliance with precautions and control hazards. develop a system to track employee safety/health training in support of written programs.
  • compiles, analyzes, and interprets data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and incidents and communicate results appropriately.
  • manage and maintain environmental programs for the facility; this includes permit maintenance and renewal, periodic monitoring, reporting to proper agencies, and communicating any concerns with corp ehs advocate and/or regulatory agencies.
  • serves as a liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, osha, and health care providers to assure information exchange and mutual assistance. services as liaison between corporate health and safety and the plant.
  • shares an obligation to protect and strengthen graphic packaging international’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: integrity, respect, accountability, relationships, and teamwork.
  • develops and implements safety incident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs (such as jsops and behavioral safety training) for incorporation into operational policies of the facility.
