locum supervising pharmacist

salary: £25-£35 per hour depending on experience

locations: knaresborough and northallerton

role purpose:

the main focus of this role is to be responsible for the provision of a safe and effective covid-19 vaccination service whilst satisfying the clinical requests of the nhs, whilst providing locum cover in our day to day pharmacy.

responsibilities:

this job description describes the main responsibilities of the role; however, it is expected that people will undertake any other duties as required commensurate with their skills and abilities.

key responsibilities

ensure diluting / drawing up vaccine procedures are followed by competent employees
ensure the vaccine is delivered, stored, and used in line with manufactures instructions and nhs guidelines. any significant issues must be escalated immediately to the responsible person(s)
manage any medical emergency
maintain flow and social distancing
ensure face coverings and protection are worn at all times by colleagues and site visitors
provide infection control / additional cleaning and support within clinical areas
ensure site first aid equipment is maintained and checked periodically
assist with the implementation of the company clinical / health and safety policies
ensure that the policies are reviewed periodically and whenever there is a substantial change in company activities, legislation, or british standards
co-ordinate all requests for assistance from vaccinators and clinical staff
assist and advise management and staff on safety precautions required to be implemented within their clinical area(s) of control
ensure that all clinical safe operating procedures (sops), are completed and are communicated to relevant staff. supervise staff to ensure sops are being followed
facilitate accident investigations where necessary and will take prompt action in reporting and appropriate action to avoid recurrence. liaise with responsible person and operations manager(s)
ensure that all relevant risk assessments are completed, communicated, and reviewed, as required by the management of health and safety at work regulations 1999. will also ensure that employees are provided with adequate information, instruction, and training regarding such matters
ensure that the exchange of service provision / health and safety information is facilitated
assist the responsible person in the appointment of contractors
facilitate the exchange of clinical / health and safety information between the company and all contractors and sub contractors is carried out prior to any work being carried out within our own premises or client premises
monitor the activities of contractors and sub-contractors and take reasonable steps to ensure their health and safety

working hours will be:

pharmacy - monday to friday 9am to 5pm, 30 mins unpaid lunch

vaccination centre (either) - could be up to 7 days a week, from 8.15am to 8.15pm (this will depend on the opening hours of the centres, as the autumn booster program starts)
