Hr manager - united kingdom, ware, hertfordshire

we are a leading provider of renewable solar pv technologies, helping homeowners as well as businesses throughout the united kingdom to discover the benefits of a cleaner, greener energy.

a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced hr manager to provide the required support to the directors and employees and deliver hr best practice across the company. the hr manager will be responsible for supporting circa 70 members of staff and will report directly into the finance director. currently a stand-alone, generalist role, (with a view to increasing the size of the team with a recruiter and hr assistant).

we are looking for candidates that have worked in a small to medium sized business with strong, all-round hr knowledge who can deal with the day-to-day hr. this is a busy and fast paced role where no two days are the same.

you will be based in our head office in ware, hertfordshire.

key duties:

this is a varied role, and the key duties will include but not limited to:

- ensuring that the company's processes and procedures comply with employment legislation

- recruitment and onboarding

- new starters/ leavers

- assisting payroll manager with monthly payroll

- performance management

- health & safety

- reviewing, updating and developing the company handbook

- handling disciplinary/ grievances

- managing annual appraisal process

- leading on people change projects and activity including employee consultations

- monitoring employee's attendance and absences

- generating data for annual salary reviews

- reviewing employees benefits

- line managing hr team (recruiter and hr assistant)

- ensure hr policies and processes within the company are up to date, compliant and fit for purpose

- ensure the integrity of employee data and documentation, ensuring this is up to date and accurate

- other ad-hoc projects, hr administration or duties as required

the successful candidate:

- ideally a background of working for a small to medium sized business

- strong generalist hr knowledge

- solid and proven experience in the management of employee relations, performance management and recruitment

- self-motivated and people orientated

- excellent level of verbal & written communication skills

- confident and capable of working individually

- meticulous attention to detail

- experience within the construction industry (desirable)

full-time -perm role.

hours of work: monday-friday; 8.30am-5.30pm

salary of £30,000-£40,000 per annum (doe)
