Field service engineer - united states, east windsor

our client in east windsor is looking for a field service engineer:

responsibilities:

specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • provide on-site technical services to customers, services include the installation and commissioning of our client's products, warranty repair services, paid services and assistance to sales efforts as required. 
  • aid and assist junior technical service engineer in the same efforts.
  • provide the training and transfer of knowledge of specific products and techniques to junior service engineers.
  • aid and assist commissioning engineers from germany during on site activities.
  • aid and assist contractors and suppliers during on site activities and provide technical assistance to same in design and manufacturing efforts as required. 
  • maintain and update customer contacts, project status, potential project opportunities and customer complaints in conjunction with the customer service coordinator.
  • provide concise and timely reports of on-site service activities.
  • work with the spare parts organization by assisting in the identification of spare parts technical descriptions, supplier information and recommendations for on hand inventories.
  • provide senior management with up to date information regarding customer projects, market observations and opportunities for use in meeting corporate goals.
  • assume the responsibilities of project management as required by senior management.
  • performing other duties as assigned.
  • travel to various  customer locations as required to support management and initiatives.  travel varies and may at times exceed 75%.
  • communicate with co-workers, management, clients, franchisees, and others in a courteous and professional manner and conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • qualifications:

  • associates degree in engineering or a related field or technical degree or related military experience and five years field service experience.
  • technical knowledge of the vacuum metallurgy industry and vacuum processing systems including primary melting, re-melting, precision casting, coating and vacuum heat treatment technologies.
  • ability to travel for long periods of time upon short notice, including internationally.
  • must maintain a current driver’s license and passport and be able and willing to fly, drive and utilize mass transport to complete assigned tasks.
  • demonstrated proficiency with plc controllers, ladder logic, pc based applications and functions. 
  • excellent communication skills are required, both written and oral.  ability to sense and relate observations and interactions to business opportunities.
