we are looking to recruit a microbiologist for our eccles, manchester site.

about the role

working as part of the wider laboratory team at our site in eccles, manchester and in close liaison with the biocides product manager, the job holder will be required to provide microbiology technical services by completing laboratory studies such as preservative efficacy studies as well as supporting product development projects to meet customer and regulatory requirements. additional responsibilities will include collating results, writing reports, and delivering results formally or informally as appropriate. the job holder will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and output of the laboratory area including implementing procedures/testing methods as required and ordering equipment and consumables.

requirements - education and experience

the ideal candidate will be educated to graduate level in microbiology, life sciences, or another relevant discipline with previous experience of working in a laboratory environment, gained either through studies or in industry. knowledge and understanding of the safe handling, storage and culture of bacteria, yeast, moulds, and algae are essential.

the applicant should be proficient in aseptic technique and experience of test methods iso 846, astm e148, iso 22196, aatcc 147 and astm g21 would also be beneficial.

sound communication, presentation, and organisational skills, together with your ability to be flexible and work independently are a must. as the company use sage as their business management software, a previous working knowledge of sage would be desirable, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
