Project engineer - united states, bridgeport

adecco is seeking a project engineer for our client, a global medical device manufacturer, located in bridgeport, ct. the project engineer responsible for engineering projects. directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of projects within areas of assigned responsibilities. represents project engineering on cross-functional teams and to customers. with over a dozen locations in a growing industry, our client offers extensive opportunities to grow and advance your career.

essential duties and key responsibilities: include the following. other duties may be assigned.

  • reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract specifications
  • recommend design changes as needed
  • coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • manage the sampling and debugging of new molds as well as any alterations required
  • controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • prepares interim and completion project reports
  • performs other miscellaneous activities as assigned by management.
  • request quotes when needed for supply requisitions
  • follow-up with vendors for pricing and delivery after purchase order has been issued
  • create project schedules to best balance the departmental workload and also estimate completion date targets for review and commitment by the departmental team.
  • monitor progress to the approved planning schedules, and identify potential misses or conflicts so that the team can plan and execute recovery actions.
  • create drawings and schematics (electrical or mechanical) in solidworks and autocad as needed to assist build projects .
  • ensures compliance with the organization standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, on-time delivery.
  • education and/or experience:

    required:

  • engineer has bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent
  • minimum of 4-5 years’ of relevant industry experience
  • detailed knowledge of principles and practices of lean manufacturing
  • occasional travel required to customer sites
  • skills/competencies:
