Maintenance operative / handyman - united kingdom, kilburn, london

we are recruiting for an experienced, professional and multi skilled maintenance operative / handyman to join a property management company. part of a team, you will be responsible for looking after all the maintenance repairs and carry out inspections for the portfolio of properties we manage in central and inner north london areas.

we are offering a fixed salary of £35,000 pa depending on experience, reviewed annually based on performance and an annual performance bonus which is discretionary. you must provide your own van and tools. specialist tools and materials will be provided.

responsibilities and duties

carry out both reactive maintenance jobs reported and scheduled maintenance jobs
diagnose any issues and suggest satisfactorily solutions
understand current health and safety regulations and requirements
carry out inspections to ensure all health & safety standards are being adhered to
carry out duties in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
provide feedback and update to the office efficiently
provide after hours emergency call-out when required
liaise with other contractors, representatives and suppliers where required
source and purchase materials from cost effective locations/stores

skills

must be highly skilled in fitting fire doors and fire strips

must be able to change locks
must have skill and experience in plumbing, basic electrics, tiling, carpentry, renovations, laying flooring, plastering (full or partial), paint and decorating
must be well presented with excellent communication skills (both spoken and written)

requirements

clean driving license
must have own tools
must have own well maintained van
must have a clean dbs check

must be highly organised and reliable
must have excellent customer service and communication skills
must be available for out of hours emergency
forward thinking with a strong and confident personality
genuine and trustworthy
self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative
able to work well under pressure
