Weekend support worker *immediate start* - united kingdom, hendon, london

please note that this is mainly a weekend position and night shifts are required.

this position involves delivering support to young vulnerable 16-21 year olds within our 24/7 semi-independent accommodation.

the support will be based around a living package of structured key work sessions to support young people to gain independent living skills. these sessions will support their transition into adulthood, develop the young people’s aspirations, ambitions, health, education, relationships, self-confidence, self-worth, life skills, employment skills, perception, attitude and social skills.

provide practical support whilst on shift for all young people
build and develop relationships with our young people and encourage them to participate fully in the opportunities offered within the house and external environments.
mental strength, to cope with challenging situations if and when these arise
contributing to the support and independent living skills needs of young people in co-operation with other team members. to follow and be aware of the individual needs of the young person, their pathway plans and individual risk assessments.
to record in the young person’s reports throughout your shift an actual factual account of the shift and the activities of the young people.
to ensure that all other records are kept up to date including such as incident or accident reports.
conduct key work sessions with young people and produce reports for each session.
to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of each young person and that safeguarding procedures are followed at all times and understand how to raise concerns.
support our young people with everyday tasks such as cooking and cleaning, and attending appointments and meetings etc
build strong working relationships with external agencies such as local authorities and other health / social professionals.
have an understanding of, and to follow the required policies, processes and procedures; and ensure that they are being adhered to.
work in the service, mainly alone, with the ability to work as a team.
proficient in the use of it applications, with the ability to develop regular update reports, pathway plans and risk assessments
to ensure the security of the building and the safety and well-being of the young people.
communicating effectively with your team via verbal and written handovers to ensure they are up to date with all events in relation to each young person.
ability to cope with verbally challenging and volatile situations if they arise.
to ensure that the environment of the home is maintained by undertaking and completing a range of cleaning duties as instructed in terms of promoting good hygiene practice, health and safety and cleanliness.
to report to the manager any incidents or concerns about the young people/or the home
attend staff meetings and training sessions as and when required
ensure standards of the home are maintained through adhering to house rules, policies and procedures and to promote and ensure that all young people are abiding by the rules of the home.



job requirements

be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills
be able to work shifts that will include night shifts, evenings, weekends, bank holidays in a flexible way to meet the needs of the young people.
be passionate about supporting young people with a variety of complex needs.
will have a willingness to learn
have an enhanced dbs preferably on the update service
driving licence with vehicle (preferred) youth, and residential care, health & social care - levels 3 (or working towards)

working patterns

am shift - 9am - 4pm, pm shift: 4pm - 10pm, nightshift: 10pm - 9am
