what you will do:

  • be the voice of customer, direct/mentor the quality and operations team consisting of operators, line techs, quality engineers, quality supervisors, weld techs, auditors/inspectors, cmm lab, materials lab, customer liaisons and operations team members.

  • quality system based on iso/ts16949, vda, master control plan (mcp) and gestamp quality system (gqs) directives & customer specific requirements.
  • enable robust launch apqp/ppap/safe launch activity and launch preparedness -  coordinating with aqe, supplier quality, product engineering, operations, supply chain & program launch teams.
  • support/lead customer audits, escalations and relationship
  • drive customer satisfaction kpi (incidents, ppm, cpm, process capability & control) and cost of quality metrics attainment through process capability and control verification, quality system conformance actions and continuous improvement roadmaps towards oem and internal customer scorecard objectives and customer perception through q basics execution
  • drive site quality continuous improvement actions
  • fmea/rpn reduction, control plan, stable process (process capability, control, change management), inspection & test, containment, problem solving, layered/internal audits, management reviews and training
  • monitoring for process capability and control with pdca for dimensional, joining, surface, visual defects, process parameters, tpm/pm, part identification/traceability requirements/conformance
  • ensure adherence of supplier quality management directives for audits, ppap, complaint management, recovery and global requirements
  • conduct robust problem solving (8d/error proofing, containment actions, root cause analysis, corrective action plan – implementation and verification);
  • drive gated reviews of launch quality plans and actions towards timely attainment of launch gate deliverables and ppap
  • apqp process adherence including pfmea, control plans, rpn reduction, msa study, gr&r, gage design and buy-off & robust ppap encompassing customer specific requirements on product, process and system, imds and conflict mineral management.
  • maintain quality control plan adherence and continuous improvement based on requirements, lessons learning and process improvements and change events
  • establish and control quality documents, samples, customer contact, supplier development, production start - up, product launch, poke-yoke, gages, correction of production variances and warranty analysis.
  • inspire, educate, coach, train on customer focus, problem solving, project management, quality system aspects and leadership standard work for all site members
  • manage entire quality department on day-to-day basis ensuring adherence to customer specifications and requirements. including the role of product safety management and quality management representative
  • develop and maintain high performing quality functional organization with leadership standard work, data driven, accountability, training/certification for qe, q supervisors, auditors, inspectors and technicians.
  • what you will need:

  • bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality management with appropriate quality management credentials.
  • 7+ years of experience in metal forming (hot, cold stamping), welded assemblies, heat treatment, painting, sealing/adhesive applications and other joining technologies in automotive/mfg. environment in metal forming.
  • 5+ yrs. in a management or supervision position of quality;
  • product launch and change management experience
  • strong experience in quality management with passenger car oem's – honda, ford, vw, bmw, mercedes preferred; has experience with managing launches
  • has good understanding of customer specific requirements including oem audits, problem resolution, change management, oem portals/ scorecards and ways of working expectations
  • fmea’s, ppap, control plans, dvp&r’s, apqp) to meet ts/iatf-16949 experience required; vda experience a plus
  • drive the execution of the actions to attain quality targets (concerns, ppm, cost of quality, internal and oem audits, supplier quality and warranty performance)
  • technical knowledge - gd&t; metrology and metallurgy technologies and techniques; core manufacturing processes knowledge: important to have experience in metal stamping, welding (mig, spot, projection), adhesive/sealant technologies
  • experience in print reading, geometric design and tolerance (gd&t), gage design and function and ability to manage metrology and metallurgy labs; specifically understanding cut and etch requirements in welding conformance and material phase transformation
