• i am a 21-year-old young man looking for support with accessing social and leisure activities.

• i use an electric wheelchair out in the community.

• i am very sociable and enjoy getting out and about and have a keen interest in photography.

• i also enjoy watching football and am a season ticket holder at brighton and hove albion.

• i may require support and accompaniment to medical or other appointments.

• some support also needed with personal care tasks, medication and meal preparation.

• you must be a driver and be willing to drive me in your car (if large enough) or use my wheelchair accessible car.

• you should be friendly, patient and reliable.

• you will report to my father who is the employer.

• must have a uk driving licence

typical duties

domestic -

• accompanying & supervising me on days out

• preparing drinks, snacks and meals when in my home

• helping me with ordering drinks and meals when out

• correspondence e.g., reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork

• making tea for my guests

personal care:

• preparing and administering medication

• help with using the toilet

• help with transferring into and out of car

• mealtimes, cutting up food

social:

• accompanying and assisting me on shopping trips when required

• accompany me when accessing social and leisure activities, including cinema, photography

• occasional longer journeys

• accompanying on trips out e.g., to the library, to see family.

• driving and accompanying me to the garden centre, beach, cinema, craft fairs, local visits, out shopping for fun, attending social events, attending therapies and disability group

• accompanying to social meetings e.g., friends, family

• the above duties will involve driving me in your car, if it is large enough to accommodate me and my electric wheelchair. alternatively, you could drive my wheelchair accessible car.

• ensuring electric wheelchair is safely secured.

• person specification

the successful applicant will be:

a driver and willing to use their own car or drive my wheelchair accessible car

be a non-smoker or willing to refrain from smoking at work

• respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

• reliable with good timekeeping

• able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

• hygienic, tidy minded and well organised

• fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

• patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

• honest and cheerful

• creative

• able to speak and read english to a reasonable standard

• legally permitted to work in the united kingdom

• able to always work to high standards of health & safety

previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common-sense approach to these roles.
