Forester required to manage native woodlands and associated businesses - united kingdom, dorchester, dorset
we are a 380 acre rare breeds farm with 170 acres of woodland comprising mature commercial softwoods, as well as some native hardwoods and new plantations. i need a forester who is passionate about woodland that is managed in a sensitive manner to encourage biodiversity. ideally someone who would like to be involved in a number of new projects:
1) timber extraction for biomass needs
2) harvesting of timber for milling and to be involved in the.development of a new business where our own timber will be used for the making of field gates, chicken houses, dog kennels etc etc
3) manage a coppice rotation and the production of charcoal
4) to be involved in the construction of log cabins to be used for a new business venture involving a "woodland life experience" for visitors.
beyond the management of the woodland itself, there is a broader involvement in the managemnet of an ecosystem as well as these business ventures. a profit share incentive will be a major additional part of the total salary package.
