job summary

we have an exciting opportunity for an associate director client services based at our site in leiden, the netherlands. the associate director client services will be involved in managing a client services team focused on (early) drug discovery programs.

as an associate director client services, you will lead an international team of (senior) client service managers who represent the company to external and internal customers, interpret and clarify customer study designs to place into proposals/contracts, develop pricing strategies for customer contracts and negotiate for maximum company revenue. you will provide centralized and multi-site coordination liaising with multiple stake holders within crl. you will participate in strategic business sales, growing current business, triaging and prioritizing new business. you will provide insight into the sales pipeline thus forecasting services by business line, customer and facility, as well as ensuring maximum capacity utilization.

main responsibilities

• responsible for the day-to day operation of an international team of (senior) client service managers based in leiden, the netherlands, including their line management and personal development. you will report to the director client services, who is based in the united kingdom.

• responsible for the timely delivery of proposals and schedules of work in collaboration with scientific staff and operational management.

• qualify bids and scopes of work with client to ensure appropriate service is provided.

• ensure all required legal documents are in place.

• follow up with clients in conjunction with our business development team to ensure that proposals are complete and answer their needs.

• creatively identify ways to secure open proposals by working with scientific staff, finance, management, and others.

• identify new business opportunities with clients and liaise with appropriate internal staff for follow-up.

• develop and/or review proposals and sows for accuracy.

• when appropriate, prepare sale price estimates for protocols, bid requests, study revisions and additions using site s suggested selling price.

• review and approve bid and proposal packages within authorized limits.

• advise management on sale pricing practices to determine accuracy and relevance to study type, service, and operation processes.

• make recommendations to management on desirable proposals based on established financial and operational criteria, as required.

• organize client site visits and ensure that scientific staff visiting clients are fully informed about client s needs.

• daily management of pipeline data in salesforce.

• work with project management office/finance and operations to ensure accurate pipeline data are available.

• serve as a mentor/ trainer to less experienced client services team members

• assist in the tracking and development of key performance indicators within the client services department.

candidate profile

• experience in contract research and/or pharmaceutical setting preferred.

• proven track record in a commercial role (business development, account management, client services) in life science

• scientific background is advantageous.

• bsc essential, higher degree (msc or phd) or equivalent in biological science related subject would be favorable.

• strengths in cell and molecular biology would be advantageous

• experience in client facing roles with project management skills that include scientific, financial and legal stakeholders.

• handle multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize based on site goals.

• strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• organizational skills and attention to detail required.

• proficient in microsoft office processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

• ability to deal with changing priorities, work effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines.

• ability to work in a dynamic working environment.

• good numeracy and literacy skills.
