this is a superb role for someone who is looking for a long-term position to work as a live-in housekeeper/cook for a warm and welcoming couple living in basildon, essex.

the role is 5 days per week working monday to friday (with flexibility and occasional weekends) from 6.30am -7.30pm with plenty of down time to recharge and rest throughout the day. the family employ a full time cleaner who comes in daily to carry out deep cleaning, laundry and ironing. (she has been working for the family for over 12 years) the main focus of the role is to cook meals for the couple including a simple healthy breakfast, simple lunch and an exciting nutritious dinner, help with menu planning and grocery shopping as well as general housekeeping duties.

we are looking for a kind, organised person who is super proactive and able to take the initiative to help run a busy home, someone who is able to run errands, liaise with contractors (ie electricians or plumbers) pack and unpack in preparation for travel and help with day to day wardrobe management and keeping common areas tidy and pristine.

the home is frequented by children and grandchildren ranging from ages 2 – 11 – someone who enjoys a busy loud home, who is able to engage with children and enjoy the hustle bustle of chaos before it all goes quiet again.

you will have your own bedroom and en-suite bathroom situated on the lower ground floor separate from rest of the bedrooms, giving you ample space and privacy.

we are looking for a confident driver, a non-smoker, someone who is super flexible, kind and has a good general “muck-in” attitude. a team player is essential, you will need to be very organised and tidy and happy to help with stepping in when the cleaner is away on holiday or off ill.

most importantly, you should enjoy cooking fresh healthy meals and be able to follow recipes and willing to learn new recipes and cuisines. you should have a good understanding of food hygiene in the kitchen and be able be on top of the household stock including cleaning products as well as food and essential items.
