Personal care assistant to adult male with physical disability in family home - united kingdom, bournemouth, dorset
permanent (after probationary period 3 months) – shift work
inc weekends (66 hours split over two weeks)
wk1 – mon & wed – 7am-6pm
wk2 – mon, wed, sat, & sun – 7am-6pm
hourly rate: £12.50 p/h day rate (7am-9pm)
£14.50 p/h night rate (9pm-7am) (if required)
personal care assistant to a male adult with physical disability, living at home with parents, full time wheelchair user. good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour working within a family home on a one-to-one basis with dan. another important member of the family is dan’s dog, bailey.
overview of job role
ensure nutritional needs are met through preparation of meals and beverages and help with feeding & drinking as necessary assist in gaining access to and use of appropriate toilet facilities (shower chair via hoist) assist in maintaining personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and personal preferences, always ensuring privacy & dignity assist in booking and attending appointments and events (including hospital, dental, doctors etc and shows, football and others as necessary) monitoring health and administering medications experience in the use of niv (ventilation), suction, nebulisers, cough assist, chest physio & manual handling availability of possible holidays away from home with dan, to share care with other team members (generally no more than 7 days) assisting with any financial requirements of dan ability to confidently drive dan to and from appt and possible long distance light household duties, i.e., cooking, cleaning (dan’s room only) changing bed linen
essential requirements
full uk clean driving licence experience in personal care giving 2+ years min proficient in use of niv (ventilator), suction, cough assist, nebuliser & hoisting english as first language (due to complex nature of care) good listening & communications skills dog lover good time management reliability and flexibility (to cover holiday or sickness as required) there may also be occasional night shift cover
qualifications & experience
evidence of competencies (i.e., hoisting, suctioning, niv, chest physio etc…) evidence of full clean uk licence references (1 professional & 1 character)
