  • duties and tasks

  • delivering work safely and to a standard that ensures the health and safety of others.
  • undertaking work in the following areas: pre-synthesis (preparation of substrates) and processing (lapping, polishing, quality control checks) as well any other ad-hoc requirements as requested
  • using lappers, polishing tools and a precise measurement tools to ensure products are finished to the specification required
  • cleaning used substrates using grit blasters and other methods
  • responsible for ensuring the substrate preparation lab is kept to a high standard (by maintaining equipment and work area neatness & cleanliness) and that materials and consumables are stocked as required
  • ensuring equipment is properly setup and operated according to guidelines.
  • working closely with synthesis engineer to adjust the process and finish to maximise product yields and successful synthesis runs.
  • working as an integral member of the production team to ensure promise adherence of delivery to customer.

  • qualifications:

  • aptitude and willingness to learn our processes and procedures; the successful applicant is required to work to very precise and exacting standards.
  • the ideal applicant will have machining or lapping/polishing skills or have demonstrated competence in an artisan trade
  • a diligent worker with a keen eye for detail and right first-time approach.
  • must be able to multi-task; a flexible approach is critical to successfully deliver in this role.
  • good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • computer literacy to use qc tools/equipment and perform data acquisition.
